National rail contractor, QTS Group has volunteered its time and services to provide support to Liverpool-based charity, KIND.
Employees from QTS recently repaired a pond area at the organisation’s SEED Centre, a multi-purpose education and community resource that provides a safe environment for vulnerable children and families across Merseyside.
The pond suffered a leakage in March, leaving it out of action. The recent repairs have enabled the charity to continue its outdoor education experience, which sits at the heart of its offering.
The affected area needed reviving after it was suspected that tree roots grew through the pond liner, meaning QTS had to empty the pond to spot and repair the leak.
The pond is used to teach the children about amphibians’ habitats and giving them the opportunity to pond dip and examine different species during their time with KIND.
QTS has been a charity partner of KIND for the last three years, providing a range of support to the organisation and volunteering more than 300 hours of time.
KIND works to improve children’s self-confidence by developing their education and skills and encouraging them to think creatively, live healthily and develop a sense of social responsibility.
Previously, QTS has assisted KIND with several projects, including the renovation of their SEED centre in July 2021 and helping with hamper packing at their annual Christmas Appeal.
Each December since 2019, QTS has provided staff to assist at KIND’s annual appeal, with the project usually requiring eight staff to offer their services for about three days. Last year, more than 1,500 hampers were sent out to vulnerable families in Liverpool over the Christmas period and KIND hopes to do this again.
”As a company, QTS has helped us with many different jobs across the centre in recent years. Fixing our pond was absolutely essential for us to deliver our work and QTS’ helps has been invaluable. We’re grateful for their support.
It’s great that we’re able to count on the staff at QTS. Their experience and professionality has made such a difference to the facilities we can offer, and we’ve loved having them on board as one of our partners.

”At QTS, we pride ourselves on our dedication to delivering genuine social value and helping the communities we operate in. We wholly support KIND and all the fantastic work they do for vulnerable families, and are happy to provide support wherever we can.
With offices across the UK, we’ve become a strong employer in the Merseyside region and it’s great to work with charity partners that are close to our employee’s heart, some of whom witness first-hand the important work and meaningful contribution that KIND makes to the local community.
