SAC Line
Our teams recently took on emergency works in Culgaith to remove vegetation and ensure the safety of the embankment, making use of both QTS’ own plant and locally sourced materials.

These works where part of a planned emergency in Culgaith on the SAC line. We received a call from NR to send a team out to remove vegetation and make safe the ballast shoulder of the failed embankment until QTS could deploy a team to carry out surveys and monitoring to aid with a design to repair the embankment.
These works were carried out in record time over four weeks from initial call out to sign off, with 300 tons of 6G rock installed to repair the embankment. Our teams worked closely with Network Rail to ensure the work was completed efficiently and on budget, utilising night-time possessions to minimize disruptions to Settle to Carlisle line.
All works where carried out utilising our own and locally sourced plant/materials and personnel to carry out the work efficiently on budget as part of the CAM framework.
